Early childhood education is defined as a quality program specially designed for children from birth to the age of eight (8) years. The establishment of the University of Malaya Early Childhood Education Center (PPAKKUM) is to provide facilities to the staff of the University of Malaya which consists of academic and non-academic staff, especially for staff in the Klang Valley. As the establishment is for the benefit of the staff, priority is given to the target group which consists of the B40 and M40 groups. In addition, parents can focus on daily services and maintain the excellence of the University of Malaya in Asia and the world.

Main role
(1) Provide quality early childhood education with an emphasis on the diverse and diverse potential of children;
(2) Provide education based on each child's learning approach is different and according to developmentally appropriate practice;
(3) Enrich children's learning experience by providing a variety of conducive programs and activities; and
(4) As a temporary care place to facilitate staff/parents to perform daily tasks.

Target group
(1) Children of University of Malaya staff, University of Malaya students, staff of University of Malaya Medical Center, (UMMC) and University of Malaya Center for Continuing Education (UMCCed) only; and
(2) However, priority will be given to parents/guardians from the B40 and M40 groups.

Taska

History
Initially established and managed by the University of Malaya General Staff Union (KKAUM). However, starting January 1, 2015, TASKA's operations have shifted under the governance of UM's Human Resources Division.

Quality objective
To ensure that 85% of TASKA children achieve and master all levels of development as stated in the PERMATA child development checklist.
Services offered
(1) Provide care services to infants; and
(2) Offer non-formal learning that is activities according to the child's development on a daily basis.

Age rating
3 months - 3 years

Tadika

History
It was originally established under the auspices of the University of Malaya Women's Association since 1976. On 1 October 2011, the Human Resources Division of UM, took over the governance from the previous management. Officially operated in January 2012. All these types of services are now placed under the same management which is now known as the University of Malaya Early Childhood Education Center (PPAKKUM).

Quality objective
To ensure that 85% of children who graduate from TADIKA achieve mastery level 3 for all performance standards set in the National Preschool Standard Curriculum (KSPK)

Services offered
Provide early education to children in preparation for schooling at the primary schools and religion school  is divided into two sessions as follows:
(1) Morning Session: Formal learning according to the KPM syllabus; and
(2) Afternoon Session: Informal learning that is styling classes (Enrichment Classes) which cover a variety of aspects based on 6 main pillars.

Transit

History
TASKA initially provided care and transportation services to primary school students for students aged 7 to 12 years. The demand for Transit services is so high and now Transit operates in different premises. All these types of services are now placed under the same management which is now known as the University of Malaya Early Childhood Education Center (PPAKKUM).

Quality objective
Ensure that all Transit students arrive safely at the destination and perform routines (Bathing, Eating, Praying, Resting) before going to School in the Evening session.

Services offered
Provide transit services (temporary placement) and transportation for children to go to school (Sec. Keb. And Sec. Religion)

7 - 12 years
